Hill describes personality as the sum of what we convey: appearance, voice, gaze, handshake, vital energy, and above all, what cannot be seen, that is, the quality of our thoughts and character. Through memorable anecdotes (the elderly lady who “disarms” Hill with her smile and human warmth; the young salesman who wins over a customer by talking about his art first), he shows that true magnetism comes from a genuine interest in the other person’s “game,” not from flattery.
The lesson then becomes practical: Hill links a “pleasing personality” to imagination and cooperation, and proposes a method for building character and presence: self-discipline, control of thoughts, self-suggestion, voice and communication training, image care, a warm handshake, and above all, the daily habit of sincerely seeking and recognizing the best in others.
The final message is clear: those who live with resentment, conflict, and grievances cannot truly be attractive. True strength is not harshness, but the art of being pleasant, because it creates trust, opens doors, improves relationships, and, as a natural consequence, also increases opportunities for success.
